EUROMECH Colloquium: Scales Transition and Continuum Micromechanics in Inelastic Heterogeneous Materials, to be held in Marseille (France) in August 2027
Description
This colloquium addresses scale transition and homogenisation in heterogeneous materials undergoing inelastic behaviour — plasticity, creep, damage and fracture — driven by coupled energetic and dissipative mechanisms at the microscale. Two questions guide the programme: to what extent can data-based scaling methods outperform conventional mean-field or numerical approaches (NTFA, FE, FFT); and which small-scale mechanisms and microstructural data must be captured for rigorous, accurate and efficient multiscale models. The colloquium aims to confront rigorous theoretical frameworks with advanced imaging, in-situ testing and data-driven constitutive inference. The event is structured in four topics.
Topics
Topic 1: Theoretical and computational homogenisation models
Topic 2: Characterising and modelling microstructures
Topic 3: Data-based schemes applied to multiscale transition
Topic 4: Mechanism-based scale transitions in plasticity
